Lerryn Memorial Hall
(Registered Charity Number 270132)
Lerryn is a fortunate place. In addition to being a friendly and attractive little village on a tributary of Cornwall’s lovely River Fowey, it also possesses a very pleasant, well equipped and centrally heated village hall. The hall is a focus of many village activities and it is also available for hire.
The previous Memorial Hall, established after the war, was replaced at the Millennium by a new building. This was funded partly with the help of the Lottery and partly by extensive local fundraising.
The Hall is run as a charity; its officers are elected at the AGM and its trustees are the appointed representatives of all the local organisations that use the Hall. All are volunteers. Elected and appointed trustees together form the Hall Committee, which administers the Hall and is responsible both for routine maintenance and for initiating any new projects. Users of the Hall are charged for the use of the premises and equipment; the Committee has to ensure that the Hall’s income from this source is sufficient to cover its ongoing commitments.
