|I've now heard of two thefts in last few days - one from Lerryn (on the news page) and a canoe from Penpoll Creek. Has anyone any good ideas about how we can combat this? Last year it seemed to be outboard motors and this year boats! frown

|Whilst I am bit busy at present....(until someone takes my boats I guess) I would be very happy to get together with anyone who wants to look at how we can try and deter this.

If anyone from Golant Boatwatch can get in touch that would be a start as they obviously have the experience in this area.

By now I am sure you will be aware that outboards have gone missing as well in the last 2 days.

Has anyone seen the film The Wicker Man.....this is my thought....one built on the village green would be a nice addition to the area ....a bit like the Angel of the North.
Once we catch those responsible they could be added to the work of art ............and having read the comments about bonfires I can assure you all that I won't light the fire until after dusk whereupon perhaps Jonny could arranage a small outdoor bar to celebrate the occasion.

Assuming the Parish Council will not grant planning permission for the above however then let me know if anyone has any other ideas...... we spend a lot of time down on the foreshore and are watching out meanwhile.

|I'll have to start my Dawn walks up now I'm over the flu.
It's amazing what you see at that time in the morning!

I love the idea of the Wicker man Damon. There's a few around here I could easily chuck in it.

Actually, to save the environment, and to keep tradition alive, how about we bring back the gallows???? I wouldn't have to worry about my washing then, would I? And anyway, wicker men are for strange folk, like those in Polruan.
Shall I put in the application for planning permission, or do you want to do it?

|Check the news page in the next few days for more info on this !

Some very positive feedback from Looe Police for the future re this problem with a meeting to be held in April.

This is being taken seriously by the Police and there will be the opportunity for several schemes to develop so we can all stop this happening again next year.smile

|Miracles do happen. Having had my outboard stolen in August today picked it up from Launceston cop shop. A bit scratched but looks like it will work. Naughty chap from Delabole area about to be prosecuted for receiving but they are unable to nail the thieves for lack of evidence although they know who they are. Maybe they think they have got away with it.

|If Rich is right then we need to restart digging the bear pit for next year then - I vote we start it after the seagull race ....no in fact during it and then we can test it out when the boats return.

Still at least the blame for the steeeelin can't be hung on the Russians this time ......or on the other hand did the guy from Delabole have an unusual accent and a trail of china clay following in his wake
