Jul 17th 2011 10:51 Report Abuse | | It's 20 years since 'Thelma and Louise', a seminal piece of work by Ridley Scott, starring Susan Saradon and Gina Davis.
It follows the two women, as they leave for a break from their husbands and lives, and then a fight for freedom from society's expectations of women and patriarchal chains.
Beautifull cinematography with a obvious feminist script, exciting, affecting and funny, this is a film every women (and MEN!) shouldn't miss. There's a touching performance from Harvey Kietel as a sympathetic cop, and a wonderful and dramatic final scene. I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet!

Jul 17th 2011 10:58 Report Abuse | | 20 years later, we have 'Bridemaids', a nearly all female cast, written by women, it is a brilliant comedy starring Kirsten Wiig. Her comedy performance is the funniest I've seen for years, particularly the plane scene, after she's told by her companion " I had a dream last night, the plane went down (comedy pause) you were in it."
This is my film recommendation for the month! Check out the trailers on Youtube. |
