Boconnoc celebrates Bible Birthday

Monday 21st February 2011

Celebratory Matins at 9.45am on 6 March

Boconnoc Church will be the location of a special celebration of the 400th birthday of the King James' Bible on 6th March. The English translation of the bible was ordered by King James 1 at a conference to heal the differences between different religious factions, and was first printed in 1611. More copies of the King James Bible (KJB) have been printed than any other book.

Boconnoc is celebrating the birthday with a special morning service with extra readings from the KJB, prayers from the Book of Common Prayer, and rousing English hymns. The service will start at 9.45 am. This occasion should be a delight for anyone who enjoys rolling phrases in the language of Shakespeare.

There will be a collection for the Retired Clergy and Widows Fund, which makes grants for such things as Stannah Stairlifts to retired clergy and their widows.
