Born Survivors

The late brood mallard ducklings hatched at the beginning of September are developing well.  There are still 4 ducklings left with their mother, a very good survival rate.  It seems that these autumn ducklings have a better chance of survival compared with the spring and summer broods which, on our river, suffer very heavy losses.
