Jess II

One of the largest sailing boats (36ft) to arrive in Lerryn in recent years, Jess II, is now dominating the creek.  She has arrived from Europe and has carried back to Lerryn a familiar couple.  Heiko & Jess set off from the Netherlands following the coast to Calais in France and then crossed over the English Channel.  The wind was from the NW and so their crossing involved beating against the wind.  They eventually put into port at Salcombe in Devon but, on leaving this picturesque harbour, they encountered poor visibility and had to return to Salcombe with some assistance from the RNLI.

They reached Lerryn on Thursday and will be staying for a couple of weeks.  After an uncomfortable first night on board with the boat keeled over on the mud, they are now staying at the Ship Inn.  Jess II is, at present, moored up against the garden wall of The Boathouse where, at low tide, she can remain on an even keel.
