Lerryn Archive reconnects a New Zealander with his past

Sunday 12th September 2010

Since we posted the Village Archive on the website, we have been receiving e-mails from former residents of Lerryn and the area.  A big thank you to Michael Fenwick who has been engaged in an "e-mail conversation" with Ian.   See Ian's e-mail below:

Hello my name is Ian Girling, currently living in Wellington New Zealand. My father, Charles Girling was rector of Lanreath between 1940 and 1962. My family were close friends with the Elin family and often visited them at their home in Lerryn. I am interested to know something of the history of Tivoli Park - where did this name come, what prompted the building of the bathing pool and arches in the park? I look forward to hearing from you. Congratulations on the photo archive.

Kind regards

Ian.
