Lerryn WI Learns about Lambing !

On Wednesday 17th March, a group of Lerryn WI ladies, suitably dressed in wellies and jackets, made their way up to Collon Barton Farm, where lambing was in progress. We spent a very informative couple of hours - not only getting a close view of the sheep and lambs, but also being given a most informative commentary by Anne and Iain Mackie. Although we did not witness the birth of a lamb (these things being impossible to schedule!) we did see various other procedures carried out and were able to get some "hands on" experience (not for the faint hearted!). Grateful thanks are due to Anne and Iain, not only for a fascinating experience - but also for their kind invitation to their house, where sherry was served and more of our questions answered. All this at a very busy time of year for them. Three of the pictures feature the youngest member of the party (though not yet a WI member!) enjoying the outing, including a ride on the quad bike with Anne Mackie. The fourth picture shows Lerryn W.I. members paying close attention to Ian's explanations of the problems sometimes encountered during lambing.
