Police Notice / Appeal - Distraction Burglaries

This message relates to Police Log No. 762 15 December 2008.

We would like to make you aware that we have received reports of distraction type burglaries in the mid Cornwall area.

A male has entered properties of elderly residents stealing property such as handbags, money etc.

The male tries to find common ground with the resident, sometimes pretending to know them, once access is gained he distracts the resident by asking them to change money or for a cup of tea and then steals items. He is described as a white male, in his 20's - 30's,of muscular build and last seen wearing a plain grey woolly hat and a plain grey waist length zipped up jacket.

Please keep doors locked and treat all cold callers with suspicion, if you feel intimidated or threatened call the police. Please pass this information on to elderly neighbours.
