Seagull Race - fundraising & thanks

A message from the Commodore of the R.L.Y.S.

Further to my report on the Seagull Race I am pleased to say that we raised over £400. In addition to that the RNLI raised over £140 in their raffle. After deduction of expenses the committee decided to distribute £300 to local organisations and charities as follows;

Donations of

£100 to Lerryn Area Minibus Association,

£100 to Friends of Lerryn School for purchase of sports equipment

£100 to The Merlin Project.

My thanks to the members of the RLYS committee who all had a part to play in the organisation and running of this successful event, to Bill Needs for allowing us to use the Drill Hall, to Annie, Jackie, Lesley and Viv for doing the mulled wine and mince pies which raised £154, to Lerryn River Stores (Deanna judged the fancy dress) and The Ship Inn for their support, to John and David for providing additional rescue boats and marshalling and to many others who have helped in different ways. Thank you all!

Richard Parrott.
