Seagull Race Results & Message from the Commodore RLYS.

From the Commodore RLYS.

The special 21st anniversary event was a great success and the weather was kind to us.   My congratulations to all those who put in so much effort to dress their boats and themselves and spruce up their engines.    It made a very colourful spectacle.     My thanks to all my colleagues on the RLYS committee for their support and hard work in organising the event and to Penny and Anne for doing the registration, Annie and Rachel for doing the Mulled pies and mince wine(!) and Mike and June for selling Raffle tickets.
There were quite a number of disqualifications this year.    Unfortunately those involved have only themselves to blame.    The rules are very clearly set out in the race instructions and I suspect that several competitors did not bother to read them.     The rules have to be applied for safety reasons and we would not be allowed to run the event without them.
I am delighted to report that the event raised £227 from the RNLI raffle.    The catering and entry fees raised a further £290 which will be distributed to local organisations / charities.     A big thank you to everyone.
Richard Parrott.
