Christmas Gifts for Elderly Friends Shoebox Appeal.

This year Lerryn WI are supporting the Christmas Gifts for Elderly Friends Shoebox Appeal.

They are a local group and this is what they say:

"A huge welcome back to our supporters old and new 😍.  This will be our 5th year helping to spread some Christmas cheer to the local members of our senior communities ❤️ the previous 4 years have been amazing and last year we gave out over 160 boxes! We hope to match this or even beat it this year ❤️
We are working with various care in the community groups and medical networks who know those who are quite isolated and would really love and benefit from our help. But always looking for nominations for any neighbours or friends you know would appreciate the thought ❤️
Some people literally have nothing and are very lonely so this would be a ray of sunshine to them ☀️"

The way it works is that you wrap a shoebox and its lid with Christmas wrapping paper and then fill it with Christmas Cheer (some of the suggested items are listed below but you can add anything appropriate).  Bring it to the village hall between 6-7pm on Wednesday 6th December and we will take them to the main collection points ready for distribution.

Also, if you know of anyone who would appreciate a Christmas Box then please contact Julie Devine, 01208 872756 or juliecdevine@gmail.com. All suggestions will be handled in the strictest confidence.

Suggested items for inclusion:

- Individual Xmas puddings, tins of custard etc
- Soups
- Hot chocolate, tea, coffee
- Biscuits, cakes, mince pies
- Toiletries
- Warm socks, gloves, hats, small blankets
- Chocolates and treats
- Large print puzzle books etc
- Anything that would help to make Christmas special
- And they'd also appreciate a Christmas card in the box too.

Please mark the boxes female, male or unisex, thanks

The only things we can't include are sharps (like razors) and alcohol (in case it interferes with their medication).

Thank you
