Let's Light Up Lerryn this Christmas

Last year St Veep Parish Council kindly gave permission for a Christmas Tree to be placed on the  green.  Lerryn Memorial Hall and the Red Store Lerryn CIC jointly provided the funds.  We would like to repeat this again for Christmas 2021, improving on what was achieved last year.

Last year, the tree, although secured in a huge tub and anchored down with guy ropes, fell foul to the winter gales and on two occasions toppled over.  The lights, last year were battery operated and although they twinkled dimly in the dark they didn’t really do the tree justice.

This year, with the support of the residences of Lerryn and surrounding area we would like to look at the possibility of having the tree ‘planted’ in the earth to provide more stability and for the lights to be brighter by running them off a mains supply.

At this stage we need a small band of volunteers to work together to come up with some proposals to take to St Veep Parish Council.  If permission is granted, we will need to raise funds and will need volunteers to put the tree up and take it down.

It would be great to build on what was achieved last year. If you can help in any way, please get in touch.  If by any chance you have a Christmas Tree (15 to 18 ft’ish) in your garden which you are looking to dispose of we would love to hear from you.
