Travel by LAMA!

Volunteer drivers take our community minibus from Lerryn via Lostwithiel to local towns, shops, garden centres and places of interest. Charges are very modest, and a phone call (01208 871272) books you a place. In addition, many local organisations such as the primary school, Women's Institute, playgroup, church and theatre club find it very advantageous to hire the bus for their own activities.

The timetables you  can see on this page are also displayed in public places in Lerryn and Lostwithiel, and are published in 'The Bridge' and 'Lostwithiel News'.

Keep your bus on the road

Keeping a community bus running is hard work! If you could give some time to helping on the committee, or if you would be interested in joining our team of drivers,  please call the Chairman, Ann Henderson, on 01208 873428.

Lerryn does drinking and gambling for LAMA !

"The only person on a winning streak is the bus!" muttered Ronald as he queued to place another bet at the hilarious Racenight evening in the hall. 'Honest Dave' St.John operated the Tote while bookie's runner Keith Rooker kept everybody in line and the rest of us ate bacon butties and cake and tried to predict which horse - or pig! - was going to win. It was a highly entertaining evening and we cleared almost £250 for the minibus, so thank you all for supporrting LAMA and see you next year!

Private Hire

The very comfortable Mercedes-Benz minibus run by Lerryn Area Minibus Association is available for private hire. Last year, people from Lerryn and the surrounding area hired our minibus to:

  • Attend a concert in the Carnglaze caverns
  •  Ferry a family group from accommodation in Golant to Lerryn on the occasion of their father’s 80th birthday party
  • Attend a lecture at the University of Plymouth
  •  Visit a brewery in Rock followed by a meal in Padstow
  •   Celebrate an 18th birthday party at a disco in Newquay

The bus takes 16 passengers plus the driver and the modest rate of £1.20 per mile includes all fuel costs. We also provide a half-hour familiarisation session for those who have not previously driven our bus, which has an automatic gearbox. In case any problems arise, we are RAC members and fully insured.

Hirers provide their own driver, who must be over 25 years of age and must produce their driving licence at the familiarisation session.

For further information or to make a booking, contact Keith and Annie Singer on 01208 871272.
