Travel by LAMA!

Volunteer drivers take our community minibus from Lerryn via Lostwithiel to local towns, shops, garden centres and places of interest.  Charges are very modest, and a phone call (01208 871272) books you a place.

In addition, many local organisations such as the primary school, the Women's Institute, playgroup, church and theatre club find it advantageous to hire the bus for their own activities.

The timetables you can see on this page are also displayed in public places in Lerryn and Lostwithiel, and are published in 'The Bridge' and  'Lostwithiel News'.

Keep your bus on the road!

Keeping a community bus running is hard work! If you could give some time to helping on the committee, or if you would be interested in joining our team of drivers,  please call the Chairman, Ann Henderson, on 01208 873428.

Notes:

  • POST OFFICE RUN: We have been extending our Bodmin trip to bring Lostwithiel people to the Lerryn Post Office, but on average the trips have only attracted one passenger. Regrettably, we have therefore decided not to run the trip beyond March. The trip of 28th March will be therefore be the last one.

  • We normally run the trip to Truro on the 2nd Friday of the month. However, this year, as the April trip would have fallen on Good Friday, it is taking place instead on Friday 7th April.

  • Our next Special Trip will be an afternoon visit to Trewithen Gardens, near Probus, on Thursday 11th May (£5.00 entry)

The minibus is available for self-drive hire to charities and community groups

Hirers provide their own driver

Self Drive Hire

Lerryn Area Minibus Association exists to support rural communities and help to combat rural isolation by providing accessible, safe and affordable transport services.  Our regular trips (see timetables) cater for the needs of the local community that we exist to help.  However, we can also offer self-drive hires to community organisations.

In 2015, charities and community groups hired the minibus to make many journeys.  Here are a few examples:

  •  The Lerryn History Society went on an outing to Camborne
  •  It was used as one of the minibuses for the shuttle service for Lostfest
  •  The Fowey Rugby Club went to St Agnes
  •  The Lerryn WI saw Kneehigh at the Asyluym at the Heligan Gardens
  •  The Lerryn Ladies Dining Club had an evening meal at the Crows Nest on Bodmin Moor
  •  The Lostwithiel WI and the U3A Genealogy Group had lunch at St Austell College
  •  The Lerryn Theatre Club saw a play at the Theatre Royal Plymouth
  •  Children from a local nursery school went on a farm visit
  •  Children from Lerryn and St Winnow primary schools took part in activities in their respective parish churches
  •   The Fowey River Lions picked up passengers to attend their Christmas Lunch at Fowey Academy
  •  The Local Area United Nations Group attended a lecture at Plymouth University

The minibus can take up to 16 passengers plus the driver and the modest rate of £1.40 per mile includes all diesel costs. All drivers have to be over 25 years of age and must produce their driving licence at the half-hour familiarisation lesson that all drivers have to attend prior to driving our automatic minibus for the first time. In case any problems arise, we are fully insured and this includes breakdown cover.

For further information or to make a booking, contact Annie Singer on 01208 871272.
