LAMA Special Trip to Dartmoor - from the other side!

We start with a run up the A30 to get to the other side of Dartmoor. Our first stop will be at Sticklepath for coffee. For centuries, Sticklepath has lain on the main road west from Exeter and it has a long and varied history. Some of that history can been seen in the National Trust Finch Foundry, which is just opposite the Taw River Inn where we will have coffee and biscuits

We will then take a leisurely drive across to Whiddon Down and Moretonhamstead, before turning right to traverse the moor. We will stop occasionally to take in the sights and make our way to Princetown for lunch. We will stop at The Old Police Station which has an extensive and reasonably priced menu.

We suggest, however, that you don’t have a pudding for lunch as we then make our way through Tavistock and Gunnislake to Calstock, on the River Tamar under the great viaduct, for a famous Valenti’s Italian ice cream or afternoon tea. Then its back home for supper, if you have any room left for it!
